There is no measuring wheel on a Keto Harvester. Consequently, one of the frequently asked questions is how do they measure? Simply put, they use their tracks. We’ve written about the advantages of tracks before (click here to read the article). But when it comes to measuring, they are really hard to beat.
Each track on a Keto Harvester is equipped with its own encoder. Each encoder measures the length of the passing log independently. Subsequently, the Technion xLogger computer system analyses the data and corrects for any irregularities in tree characteristics, feed speed, power, and mechanics. The result is an extremely accurate triple-length measuring system that can consistently measure within a 5 cm window on any log length. And you don’t need to recalibrate or change parts based on season or wood type. Check out the little experiment I ran below!
Keto Harvesters abandoned measuring wheels almost three decades ago. We constantly hear from happy customers that it was the way to go. Tracks can last for over 10,000 hours when properly maintained, so there is not much wear and tear. As a measuring tool, they provide a long, flat surface with a length that does not change and thus does not need frequent calibration. No measuring wheel on Keto Harvesters is just another reason to get on track.
